It’s not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.Charles Darwin/Leon Megginson
Resilience is the ability to adapt well to trauma, adversity, tragedy and threats. It is overcoming obstacles that are placed in your path. It doesn’t mean that obstacles don’t occurs it just means that you are able to adapt rather than resist. Many people who experience trauma are able to recover sooner, not because they are not affected by the events but, because they are resilient to their circumstances.
I love the picture above. I have seen, in nature, how a living thing will be challenged to survive the elements and they find a way. What seems like an impossible circumstances is made possible, it continues moving up and forwards. I hope as I finish up this month of setting goals and following through that I can remind myself to adapt and change. To be resilient and to learn from mistakes, adapt to an ever changing world.
Resistance is not useful or productive. Adapting and adjusting our path is productive. Being open to the suggestions and support of others. Evaluating what works and what does not. When I am at odds with myself and I am in turmoil I am less likely to be successful in my goals. The thoughts in my mind take up so much space that I am not able to see the truth of the situation.
Being open-minded in a world that often sees one side or one way. Look at the picture once more. Find your way when the way seems impossible. Be blessed and find your happiness. I know that I am enjoying the journey that I am on. Finding happiness in this life.
