Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
I just recently went to the funeral of a dear friend’s mom. The ceremony was a tribute to a life well lived. When someone we love dies we miss them when they are gone. But I truly believe that death is not the end. God said that he has prepared a place for us. A place were there is no sorrow or pain.
When I started my happiness page I knew that my faith was a value that I wanted to work on. I believe that for me to be happy, that faith and spirituality had to be a big focus. For me to find comfort I realize its important to rely on God more for comfort in my time of need. He is my loving father, who takes care of me and never leaves me. I find happiness in the comfort from God, and the wonderful people who surround me, and love me.
There have been times when I have felt all alone. I have felt that my situation was too difficult. But when I look closer, God has had his protective arms around me like a loving father. He has brought me out of some difficult times. He provides people and opportunities that have brought me to where I am today. Some of my most difficult times have been blessings in disguise.
I believe that happiness is experienced by recognizing blessings while walking in the storm. The storms help us to appreciate what we have. Have you ever noticed how when things are bad or disasters occur that, for the most part, people pull together to help each other. I think that is because of our spiritual nature. I believe that we are made in the image of God so we have this natural tendency to want to comfort others who are in need. This is not to say that we can’t become selfish and self centered. When I care about someone I don’t want to see them hurting, I try to offer comfort.
So, when I am in need, when I feel despair, when my sorrow is great…. I will remember this verse in the Bible…….Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
