Happiness is not selfish

Many times doing things for yourself is seen as being selfish. This hasn’t been shown to be the case when it comes to happiness. People who are happy tend to be more caring and giving to those around them. Think of someone you know who is unhappy… they tend to be self absorbed and critical of others. Now think of someone you know who seems happy… they tend to be more caring and giving to others.

I know that you can probably think of cases where this is different but for the most part it just seems that happier people are more giving of themselves.

This seems to be true for companies as well. Think of a company that is struggling with keeping their employees happy and you will most likely find high amounts of turn over and less productivity. Happier people stay on the job longer and work harder. (For the most part).

Being happier helps everyone. The individual, agencies, the community, and society overall. So as the Partridges family would say “come on get happy”.
